2013 Hatching Egg Production

Domestic egg production in 2013 was up 5.4% from 2012. Domestic egg hatchability improved slightly to 81.5%.  Imported eggs dropped by 20.5% compared to 2012 and imported chicks followed the same trend, decreasing by almost 13% from the previous year.  The percentage of Manitoba chicks placed in Manitoba jumped to 86% from 80.5% in 2013.
