2015 HATCHING EGG PRODUCTION

Manitoba hatching egg production fell by 2.69% from 2014, resulting in a quota utilization of 94.9%. Domestic egg hatchability improved slightly to 82.6%. Imported eggs increased for the second year in a row (up 8.9% in 2015). Imported chicks rose dramatically, increasing 569% over 2014. The percentage of Manitoba chicks placed in Manitoba dropped again (79.5% in 2014 compared to 82.6% in 2014 and 86% in 2013).
